At the Parish Public Forum titled “Pax Silica sa Pilipinas: Pagtimbang ng mga Pangakong Teknolohikal Laban sa mga Katotohanan ng Komunidad at Kalikasan” held at the Malate Church Complex on September 19, Dr. Giovanni Tapang discussed the realities of the upcoming development at New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac. The discussion centers on whether the industrial project serves national interests or risks exploiting local resources and communities for external economic gain.

Dr. Tapang is a known as a dedicated educator, prominent physicist and a respected leader in the Philippine Scientific community. He has served as Dean of the College of Science and Professor in the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines, Diliman.

The Parish Public Forum, now on its 18th year, has served as a platform to raise community awareness on national and local issues.
